An Employment Pass (EP) in Malaysia is tied to the employer that approved it by the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) of the Immigration Department of Malaysia. This means that if you are an expat with an EP in Malaysia and you want to change jobs, you will need to get a release letter from your current employer and apply for a new EP with your new employer.
Your current employer will need to shorten your existing EP by submitting a cancellation request to the ESD of the Immigration Department of Malaysia. Once your existing EP has been shortened, your new employer can then apply for a new EP on your behalf.
Employment Pass (EP) holders in Malaysia can bring their family members to live with them in the country. The family members who are eligible to be brought to Malaysia are:
